The fall season brings crisp air, vibrant foliage, and of course, Halloween! Don't have a Halloween costume yet? Check out some of the top costumes for 2011.
Charlie Sheen. Who wouldn't want to be a rock star from Mars for Halloween? Duh, winning. You don't need much to pull off this look. Just find a t-shirt with one of his many catch phrases, such as tiger blood, with the trolls, winning, etc., or you can go for the classic Charlie-look and sport a retro bowling shirt. Top the look off with a black fedora and sunglasses. Many places, such as Amazon and SpiritHalloween, are also selling Charlie Sheen costumes complete with a mask and accessories.
Black Swan. Emulate one of the top movies of 2011 and be black swan for Halloween. For this costume, you will need a black strapless leotard, faux black feathers for embellishment, a black tutu, white tights, ballet slippers, a tiara, and makeup. Be sure to watch the movie or study a picture, so you can apply the makeup just right. If you don't want to buy individual items for this costume, check around for a black swan ballerina costume.
The Royal Wedding. Not much was bigger in 2011 than the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. If you are in need of a couple costume, consider being the bride and groom. For the bride, you will need a wedding dress with lace sleeves and a tiara/veil. The groom will need a red military jacket and a blue sash. Add various medals for more detail. Not feeling the couple costume but still want to represent the royal wedding? Dress up as a royal wedding guest. Dress in formal attire and a fascinator, and you're all set! You can also check out Halloween costume stores, such as Costumes4Less, to buy these complete royal wedding costumes.
Angry Birds. With the popularity of angry birds spreading across the world, this year is the perfect time to dress as your favorite game app for Halloween. Dress as your favorite bird: red bird, blue bird, yellow bird, black bird, or white bird. You can also dress as king pig. Most Halloween shops, such as CostumeSupercenter and Costumes4Less, have these angry birds costumes.
The Smurfs. One of the most popular cartoons of the 80s came back on the big screen this year. Show your love for these little blue creatures by dressing up as Papa Smurf, Smurfette, or one of the male smurfs. If you choose one of the male smurfs, add character props to your costume. For instance, Brainy Smurf sports black-rimmed glasses and carries around a book. Pick your favorite smurf and have a smurfin Halloween! La la la-la la la.
Beyonce's Baby Bump. Beyonce announced her pregnancy by showing off her baby bump at the 2011 VMAs. If you are a Beyonce fan, you may want to recreate this look for Halloween. For this costume, you have two options: the VMA red carpet reveal or the VMA performance reveal. The VMA performance reveal will probably be more recognizable. For this look, you will need black maternity pants, a white oxford button-up, a purple sequin blazer, and a pillow or attachable baby bump. For the red carpet reveal, you will need an orange, floor-length, one-shoulder dress, which you can easily recreate by using an orange bed sheet. Pin your hair to the side and add the baby bump and some bling.
Brett Favre. He retired from the Packers in '08, sort of. He retired from the Jets in '09. Then after a long (ehem) 2 year stint with the Vikings, he retired again in '11. At this point, the only thing we believe Favre is good at retiring from is his own retirement. At least for this season, he seems to have traded his football helmet for a fishing cap, making for some fun costume ideas. Grab your favorite pair of Wrangler jeans and a #4 jersey (any team will do at this point, right?) and you might just find yourself intercepting this year's Most Valued Costume award.
A Vampire. With so many popular vampire movies and TV shows, vampire costumes are still on top for Halloween 2011. Go classic vampire with a cape and fangs or go casual vampire like the ones on The Vampire Diaries and True Blood and just sport street wear and fangs. Check out Halloween shops, such as HalloweenMart and SpiritHalloween, for more vampire gear.
The Jersey Shore Cast. Whether you love them or hate them, you can't deny that these eight guidos and guidettes are still going strong in 2011. While for the most part you just need some self tanner and club wear to pull off looking like the cast members, Snooki and Pauly D will probably be the easiest and most recognizable costumes. For Snooki, use lots of self tanning lotion, wear a short, fitted dress and faux fur leg warmers/boot covers, and rock the Snooki pouf. For Pauly D, you will need self tanning lotion, hair gel, fake tattoos, and a fitted tee. It's t-shirt time!! Find complete Jersey Shore costumes at CostumeSupercenter and SpiritHalloween.
Whether you go to a Halloween party or just trick or treating around your neighborhood with your little sibling, these costumes are sure to please! Happy Halloween!
